During an epidemic of coronavirus infection, many people are forced to leave offices and stay at home. At the same time, working being at home and paying office rent is not economically viable for most of us, so the question arises: “Is it possible to place your company's office at home?”. The law does not explicitly prohibit the use of own residential real estate for business purpose, but it is prohibited to use residential buildings “for industrial purposes” and "for industrial production." In its turn, the “industrial nature of production” is characterized by the presence of an “industrial process” that does not correspond to ordinary office life. The law states that the owner has the right to take any actions against his property that do not contradict the law, including for business activities. However, it should be borne in mind that the owner cannot use property rights to the detriment of the rights, freedoms and dignity of citizens, the interests of society, to worsen the environmental situation and natural qualities of the land. And if all these requirements are met, then there are no obstacles to the placement of the office in the living space. In general, this issue needs a detailed legal settlement. However, so far we have legislation that makes it possible to place an office in your living space.
