The Supreme Council of Ukraine on 16.02.2021 adopted the Law of Ukraine No. 2695 "Amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the increase responsibility for certain offenses in the field of road safety." By the specified law were made amendments to the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses, Criminal code of Ukraine as well as on the laws of Ukraine "road traffic" and "the national police".
These major changes are:
- increase of responsibility for driving vehicles, controlling river, sea or small ships in a state of alcoholic, drug or other intoxication
- changed the mechanism of bringing to responsibility for administrative offenses recorded in automatic mode, while canceling the accrual of penalty points;
- legalized the use of video recording equipment by the police with the obligatory inclusion of video recording materials in the protocol on an administrative offense
The adopted changes are mainly aimed at increasing the level of legal culture, strengthening the rule of law and educating drivers, persons who drive vehicles, passengers in the spirit of accurate and unswerving compliance with the requirements of current legislation.
