Today, in the conditions of the heroic resistance of the people of Ukraine against the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the issue of not only the awareness of Ukrainians of their national and civic identity, which has been suppressed and "eroded" for many years, but also its affirmation has acquired special meaning.
To implement this issue, on the first day of 2023, the Law of Ukraine "On the Basic Principles of State Policy in the Field of Establishing Ukrainian National and Civil Identity" entered into force, one of the main tasks of which is to achieve the unity of the people of Ukraine and the formation of an active civic position for every Ukrainian, based on national values.
The main national values of Ukraine are defined as:
Consecration;
Originality;
Will;
Dignity.
Of interest: national-patriotic education, which is one of the components of state policy in this direction, will cover all spheres of life and include, in particular, emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle and teaching safety skills; development of critical thinking, leadership qualities, psychological and spiritual stability; emphasis on the need for a proactive life position; preservation of the natural environment.
The state policy in this direction will be implemented by specialists and volunteers with the involvement of citizens and non-profit organizations - civil society institutions. In this way, everyone will be able to take an active part in it.
It is important that one of the main principles of the state policy in this matter is the absence of any discrimination and absolutely equal access for everyone who wants to participate in projects and activities aimed at establishing the Ukrainian identity.
It should be remembered that as long as people exist, national identity is never complete, it is constantly transformed and supplemented with new ideas, cultural and spiritual values. Therefore, the participation of each of us is important in this matter.
