The changes have a positive effect on the quality of medical care, and facilitate the work of medical staff, as well as provide an opportunity to minimize unnecessary bureaucratic actions.
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 2593, amendments were made to clause 1.9, to be clear, its exceptance. According to clause 1.9:
- a certificate of incapability for work should have been issued at the place of work or residence;
- if the choice of a doctor did not take place at the place of residence or work, then the certificate of incapability for work was issued only upon a written application, in agreement with the head physician and was certified by the signature and round seal of the medical institution.
In addition, the changes affected the period for which the certificate of incapacity for work can be extended. According to the amendments, depending on the severity of the disease, the attending physician can extend the period of sick leave up to 15 calendar days, instead of 10, as previously stipulated.
Another innovation aimed at optimizing the work of the attending physician is that during the period of activities related to countering COVID-19, the attending physician can issue a certificate of incapacity for work personally for the period necessary for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 and / or completion of self-isolation patient in accordance with industry standards in the healthcare industry.
These changes were made in order to optimize work and minimize the timing of the implementation of material support for sick leave of insured persons.
